Staff Development and Training Management
SDMS V Staff Development for Windows supports Full Course Management and Administration. Data is collected at the Proposal, Planning, Application, Approval or Nomination Stages. Course Planning and Scheduling, Course Advertising, Enrolments and Attendance are all supported. If required, Qualifications and Competencies resulting from successful participation in the Course can be held together with Provider and Trainer Details. Course Aims and Objectives, Programme and Agenda together with Course Materials can be recorded reducing duplicated effort often experienced in Training delivery. It provides a means of fully incorporating Training and Development into overall Business Planning, as well as for organising and delivering all forms of Training and Development from traditional Courses to Open Learning. And of course, Date Clashes for Trainers, Events and Delegates is standard to help with the practicalities of Planning and Scheduling. With SDMS V e-Training for Web Access this can be delivered via the web browser.
Training Needs and the Missing Link
The optional Training Need Module ensures that training delivered is directed to well established Employee and Business Training Needs. It will enable you to make that essential and often missing connection between the delivery of Training and the Training Needs it is designed to meet. Whether you manage Training Needs by Survey or Questionnaire, Appraisal or Performance Management, Job or Task Analysis, Line Manager Nomination or Business Planning Methods, SDMS V Training Needs for Windows will allow Training Needs to be recorded flexibly and comprehensively and provide you with invaluable data for Planning and Evaluating the Training delivered.
As Much or as Little
For each Employee, Training Needs can be recorded by the Subject or Training Area – providing a link to the Business Plan – the Specific Element of Training, the Level of Training and its Urgency. The process through which it is determined (such as Appraisal or a Survey) can be recorded separately for each item of Need and a Weighting relative to other Needs set. Further details can also be held including a General Description of the Need, the duration of Training required, how the Training should be delivered and by whom. A minimum set of data is required by the Software – just a single Training Area Code – enabling Organisations to implement a range of ways of Recording Training Needs.
Compulsory and Recurrent Needs
For Organisations placing emphasis on Competencies, Certificates, Qualifications and QCFs; these can all be built into the Needs Analysis allowing Employee Training Needs to be defined with greater levels of detail. Compulsory and Statutory Requirements or those giving rise to repeating or recurrent training are fully supported. When the Training Need was Last Satisfied, When it is Next Due and whether it is Compulsory or Required can be recorded. Matching Needs to available Training Opportunities is built into the System with the ability to run Fast Matching or more complex Matching of Specified Needs to available Courses. With a Person's Needs fully available at the Enrolment Stage, Names of possible delegates are available at the touch of a button. The ability to Reserve Places, directly Enrol, or simply Notify Employees by Letter of a potentially Relevant Course are all available.
Job Requirements and Gap Analysis
Alternatively, Training Needs can be set as Training Requirements of Posts and Jobs with Needs automatically inherited by the Employees assigned to them. Increasingly, Organisations are defining a set of Key Posts with Specific Skills and Qualifications required by them. Skills gained by Employees in the process of Training and Development can be mapped against their Jobs providing a Gap Analysis of further and ongoing Job-based Training Needs.
Standard and Ad Hoc Reporting
A range of Standard Reports are customisable giving Views and Analysis of Training Needs by Employee, Department, Type, Subject Area, Competency, Significance and Course; all aspects of the Organisation’s Training Requirements. Importantly, Unsatisfied Training Reports allow gaps in Training Provision and Delivery to be picked up and overcome. An enhanced feature of SDMS Software is the Report Viewer and Editor which allows Full User Control over Report Outputs including Font Style and Size, Bolding, Underlining, Cut and Paste and many other Word Processor Features together with Report Output File Management including Save and Open. Appropriate Reports include Pie and Bar Chart Options at the click of a button, in addition to normal text and columnar outputs. In addition, SDMS Report Writer: Crystal Reports™ is an optional Module for the Needs Module allowing the User to design and write their own reports.
An Urgent Requirement
Regular, detailed and rigorous identification of Employee Training Needs has often been the missing element in many otherwise exemplary Organisational Training Regimes. No doubt Cost of Collection was and remains a factor. But the benefits of Needs Based Training delivery far outweigh such Costs. SDMS V Training Needs for Windows has been designed to accommodate the simplest to the most sophisticated models of Needs Analysis, we hope helping you to address this urgent requirement.
