SDMS V Staff Development Software already has extensive emailing capabilities for sending booking confirmations, reminders and notifications of changes to dates, times and venues etc. We have now added SMS Messaging to its list of communication methods allowing you to send text messages when delegates are booked onto courses.

Because the mobile phone is almost always nearby, SMS text messaging is a very effective method of reaching someone immediately. It is a preferred method for reaching someone when you know they aren’t sitting at a computer, or when the situation is urgent and you need to reach them now.

Immediate - Sending a Text Message is immediate and a particularly effective means of sharing information with others for immediate feedback.

SMS Messages can be sent as well as the standard email booking confirmation providing that the person has a mobile number entered in SDMS. All emails that can currently be sent in SDMS Software can also be sent via SMS, including:

• Pending Approval

• Booking Confirmation

• Enrolment Reminder

• Date/Time/Venue Change

• Web Password Reminders

The Module also supports multiple message sending if the message goes over 160 characters and each message can use the merge fields from SDMS including person, enrolment and course info into the message text.

SDMS already allows users to set up and customise their email templates and the same can also be done with SMS messages. As a single SMS message is only 160 characters, and emails are usually must longer you can set a separate similar but shorter message.
